To celebrate mine and Iain’s birthday with the Beach Boys and B’s we decided to head over to the Isle of Wight for a weekend away. Everyone met up at Lymington where Iain’s parents kindly dropped us over in their boat.
We took a suitable amount of luggage for a night’s stay….
After setting up camp we decided to walk the coastal path heading back towards Yarmouth stopping at every watering hole en route. The first place we came across was The Hut which was lovely, right on the waters edge with great views across the sea. We ordered a bucket of beers and a bottle of Prosecco and got into h-o-l-i-d-a-y mode!
We walked along the beach, the boys skimmed a few pebbles and then headed inland to continue walking along the coastal path.
Some of the guys found a empty boat to hide in and jumped out at the girls, cue screams!!
On to the next stop where more beers and bubbles were being consumed when Woodley pulled out a birthday competition. Girls vs. boys in a puzzle. The girls obviously won…. by a mile! But there was a slight issue with Lydia and I putting our boyfriends faces on the wrong body… Oops!
We had dinner booked at On the Rocks, one of Iain’s “top ten restaurants” and it did not disappoint! You pick your meat (everyone went with steak, except prawns for brace-face me) then they bring out a HOT volcanic slab for everyone. You cook your meat yourself at your table whilst they bring unlimited chips and salad, yum!
We finished dinner with some edible birthday writing and birthday shots for us and the waitress. Iain had an extra special drink for being the oldest out of the birthday brats! Not so yum.
We headed out for some more drinks and I decided to put my camera away in a safe place for the night!
The next day, en route home, Woodley pulled out a crabbing kit and the guys had a go beside Lymington Station. No sooner had the spam hit the water that we got asked to vacate. Maybe we can try again when we return to celebrate New Year’s Eve!
